I’ve Been Busy

Do I have any followers left? I know that my posting has been sparse, but that’s primarily because my focus has been on freelance projects. In a way, finding more professional work and building my portfolio is exactly why I started the site to begin with. But, after building up my web presence for going on three years now, I can’t help but feel a sense loss if I’m not updating. For now, my life seems to be settling down enough that I can slowly start working on personal projects again.

In the mean time, I’ll be updating my online portfolio galleries, and posting some of the work that clients have given me permission to share. First up, I have my friends Tegan and Brian with one of my favorite weddings I have shot ever. The venue was gorgeous, sporting a beautiful church, amazing gardens, and a freaking playground for swashbuckling!

Fall Fairy

Hey everyone. It looks like I’ve decided to break my hiatus with a fall foliage shoot. All of you remember Samantha Novak, right? She’s always a treat to work with and we both decided that we needed to sneak in a shoot to take advantage of the leaves while we could. and of course, she already had a   fairy costume that goes perfectly with the scene. I love shoots like this where I get to go crazy with different lighting setups and going all-out in post. After you’re done “liking,” sharing, and following this post, be sure to show Samantha some love over on her Facebook page.

Emily at the Riverfront

I teamed up with my awesome and lovely friend, Emily, to shoot a portrait set down my the Cuyahoga Falls Riverfront. Since half the shoot was at night, I got experimental with the lighting. The shots by the fountain in particular used a combination of shutter dragging, one off camera flash for fill light, and a second remote flash with a spotlight modifier. The post processing was more elaborate than usual to, How did I do? Let me know in the comments below.

Following the Sign

How have I never gotten to shoot at this location before? I’m in this area all the time, but it wasn’t until Samantha Novak called me up for work on one of her projects that I got to see this fantastic sign outside Musica in Akron. Samantha, the promoter from the Beachland events, asked me to help her with a video audition to perform at the Electric Forest this year. We shot video at a couple of locations (and you’ll be seeing that video as soon as it’s finished), but slowed things down for some stills by this sign. She’s a great model, amazing performer, and just fun to hang out with. So, be sure to check out her page (https://www.facebook.com/SamanthaNovakPerformance) to keep track with all of the amazing work she’s doing.

More Studio 526

Every time I go back to Studio 526, I try to shoot it a little differently. This week, I tried tighter photos, black and white, and played with back-lighting more.

Feel free to share around the photos. If you like what I do, and want to help support me so I can keep shooting events like this, it would be fantastic if you could click that ‘Donate’ button up in the right hand side of the site. Even if you can’t give, still feel free to share these around the web, and subscribe to me here on WordPress.

Going With the Artistic Flow

Last night, I was invited back out to the Metro Studio Spin Jam out in Akron for some more photos and video. This time, I decided to take greater advantage of the studio’s setup. An entire wall is basically one giant, seamless backdrop and the other walls are covered by curtains. I figured that it was the perfect chance to test out my new light stands.

2014

2014 turned out to be kind of a big year for me. I left my temp job to freelance full time, had my work published in a book,  got married, moved into a house, and just last week I became a godfather.

Those are just the bigger events of my life from this last year. For all of the smaller moments and memories, I look back through the photos I’ve taken this year. That’s where all the tiger hunts, bike rides, fashion shows, travel, events, and quiet afternoons reside.

This is what I love to do more than anything,  the love and support of those closeto me, as well as everyone I’ve met through the site, is what lets me keep doing it. I can’t say for sure where I’ll go in 2015, but I have some big plans in the works. So, keep an eye on the site, and we’ll go together.
